This painting is part of a series that aims to empower individuals from marginalized groups and to normalize perceived strangeness through familiar cultural elements like fashion. It can be seen as a Pop reinterpretation of the classical nude. Aesthetically, it plays with contrasts—such as the bold red-and white patterns of the bathrobe and the tape. The robe is worn backwards, and the tape, inspired by a real life photo I took, references the kind used to secure a broken shop window. A shadow looms on the left, suggesting the presence of a perpetrator, yet the central figure remains calm. The absence of visible faces creates an unsettling ambiguity. The figure's head is covered by a mask— one often associated with criminal activity—blurring the roles of victim and aggressor. This ambiguity invites the viewer to question who holds power, and who is at risk.
